I went to the hill climb either 79, 80 or 81. One of those three. Very few guys made it up the hill to the top. Also in 79 or 80 I was invited to go to the hill to go sledding/tubing. I was working for a house Framer. He said let's go. But I didn't. I went shoveling snow because I had to make money. Anyway Joe, the owner of the Framing company, and all-around good guy went tubing. He was injured. I forget what it was. May be a broken shoulder? Ribs? I'm not going to use his last name here. He was from Lehigh county originally and lived in Allentown when I worked for him. I'll give you a hint, disco Joey. Anyway, as I sit here having evolved to a reasonable cautious self I wonder, is it riskier ascending the hill on a motorized vehicle where you have some ability to steer and provide the level of propulsion you desire,,, 0R,,, is it a greater risk descending the hill, with gravity and the slickness of the precipitation on the Earth dictating your speed and your steering Is left up to,,,, oh yeah,,, steering is helpful. Anyway Joe. Thanks for everything David Who referred Rocky to you.

Look at this guy number 2, 3 of them at the start holding his bike while he is fixing his goggles, like he hasn't known for last 30 minutes when his turn was and waited until it was time to take off from the start line to adjust his goggles and yeah you made it but no one was impressed, hope you didn't mess your hair putting on your helmet!!!!!!!!

I love it when you got these guys that have 3 I r 4 crew members helping him at the start and takes for every to every leave and then wipes out about halfway up, and then you have a guy comes up by himself barely even stops at the start and takes off and rides all the way over the top like it was a Sunday afternoon cruise!!!!!!

This is what I’m talking about with the west coast style of hillclimbing. Yes you have big gnarly mountains there of course, but the old churn and burn and nobody even making it looks to be a total waist of time. Ok you can get points from the day that will help at the end of the season and that’s good. But personally I would rather ride a hill where I can compete also with my motors strength and get a time to compare with all the fastest runs. Think of it as a uphill straight rhythm where you have to put it down hard everywhere to clear the jumps and get the best results. This hill is more like that Ersburg rodeo trail riding stuff, a trials bike probably would of gone faster in this Great American Hillclimb. We East coasters have to tolerate “is that the kids hill” in comments from macho guys who claim they have big mountains and that’s supposed to put us down. Show up anywhere east of Denver and get a fast time then we’ll talk. I didn’t see one run where they went over ten mph. This must be the kids hill. Ok I’ve made my point hopefully but anyone who sighs up for a day of racing East or West is a winner. Enjoy I love you all ❤️❤️ 🚬🐔🪓

Carnegie cycle park was host to the trans ama series in the early to mid/late 70's. It had two configurations throughout that era. From 70/72 the track configuration was basically three sections. The first/lower section was through a dried up creek bed. The second section in the back took you out of the creek bed to a straight section running parallel to the side of a big hill. At the end of that straight was a left turn that took you to the third section of the track was layed out on the side of that big hill. There were numerous switchbacks up and down that hill which if I remember correctly to you to a fast off camber section returning you to the creekbed section past the starting gate area. It was like riding two seperate tracks! It was also, at the time, the Europeans favorite track to come to during that era of the Trans- ama series. I was 11 and 12yrs old when I attended the 1971 and 1972 races. The 72 race really stands out as by that time I had ridden that track because of my dads and I involvement with racing with CMC north at the time. My dad had a friendship with Keith Mullins who at the time was president of the northern chapter of CMC. It was a great time to be involved in motocross and to see all my MX heroes of the day in those two trans-ama events is for ever etched in my mind. Seeing Ake Jonnson on his now infomous Maico and Bruce Baron on the the orange tank prototype Honda Elsinore 250 in the support was also exciting as was watching my hero of the day nothern california Maico rider sponsered by Trophy Cycles in Mountain View Ron Self both in the 250 support race. I still from time to time pull the pics my dad took at that event and just marvel at how glorious of a track that was, especially the side of the hill section. We moved to Southern Ca. in 1973 and my magical mystery tour of being part of motocrosses finest hour continued racing at Carlsbad and Saddleback with CMC. Unfortunately for some bizzare reason I remember reading in the 74 or75 issue of MXA magazine of the trans ama coverage at Carnegie that they changed/ ruined the layout of the original track. Anyway doesnt surprise me a bit that Carnegie since is famous for its hillclimbing events. The only place that could surpass it would be Hollister which my dad and I spent a lot of saturdays cow trailing, if any you old timers like me, remember that term. Those days at both those places were part of some of the best times in my life with my dad besides the time spent in racing and riding in so.cal......miss you pops

That piece of shite confederate flag, ripped our nation apart. Until finally, those lazy charlie Sierras just quit. You know? They gave up. They lost. That flag offends me, because I believe in winning and losing. And a real man, knows how to do both with dignity. You want to fly a flag, go win something. And besides, riding around with that flag just says "Hey! I'm a fxcking loser.". See 6:39
